Final Piece: The Ideas and Research

Our media class has now been set our deadlines for our final media piece. The deadline is mid march so we need to start filming soon. The task is to create opening titles for our own movie, which has to be 2 minutes or under. My group consists of me and ross. We decided to go together as we are very close mates and our ideas went well with each others. We alreayd have our initial idea which we cant wait to plan, film and edit. At the moment we are creating the storyboard and the animatic to follow it. We are currently enjoying this idea and really looking forward to seeing the final piece.

We have decided to go with the genre of Thriller and Mystery. We chose this genre for several reasons, the first is that we believe this will be one of the most interesting genres to create ideas around and also our previous media piece was also this genre. These genres we belive will fit our target audience of young adults. We chose this audience as we ourselves our young adults so know what we like and dislike.

To come up with the ideas we have today, Ross and I researched a few famous films with the same genre as our selected genre. Ross researched the film I Am Legend, while i researched the opening of Saw 3. I researched this film because the opening sequence is very similar to our initial idea where the audience is confused and later on gets told more information, we belive this will keep the audience interested in our final piece.

While creating our ideas for our final piece we also needed editing ideas and camera angles to make this piece the best of our abilitys. On our storyboard we have added a selected range of camera angles including panning, high angle and close up shots. We also add a couple of point of view shots to enable the audience to see what the character is seeing and witnessing.

We are using quite a few editing techniques including impact cut and cut zoom out, this we show our filming techniques and the quality of work we produce. We will also be using some special effects editing in our film just to emphasise certain aspects of the film. One effect in particular i can not wait to create with Ross is when we zoom out form the area we are in to see a earth and then the titles coming up. This will suggest to the audience that the main character we know is all alone in the world.

So far these are the basic ideas what we have, which we belive will provide a great viewing for the audience and for ourselves.
